ABOUT THE EVENT:
"Tour de Fair" is a simulation of the legendary "Tour de France" exclusively for WTNB* riders. The race, consisting of flat, mountain and sprint stages, takes place in one day and goes over 70km within the Berlin area. At each stage there are checkpoints where you will receive a stamp in a "brevet book".
It is not an official registered event and runs like an alleycat, so each participant is responsible for their own safety. You can ride alone or in a group. In the Tour de France spirit, we have adopted the winning colored jerseys. There will be 21 stages (“checkpoints”) as per the classic men’s Tour de France with prizes and an afterparty :)
You will receive a Komoot route the day before the event (please download the app before the race). At check-in you will pick up your brevet booklet and race number. If you don't have a GPS, join a fellow biker. Don't forget your helmet and light so that you can get home safely after the afterparty.
Here is more about the background of the race:
The time has come: this summer the first real version of the women's Tour de France will take place - Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. After a long fight against sexism in cycling and abolition of the "podium girls", A.S.O. against his earlier arguments such as "logistically impossible", "too few women's teams", "too few sponsors" finally saw that it was time. We are proud to have contributed to this decision with our actions. History shows it too: women can do the tour! In 1984, the only full version of the race took place - "Tour de France Feminin". It consisted of 21 stages, as is usual for men, with women finishing an average of 30 minutes ahead of men.
The following women's races consisted of 5-6 stages and were not televised, hardly published. Since 2014, the Tour for women has consisted of a single stage (La Course by Tour de France). The race in 2022 will consist of 8 stages and will be broadcast on the largest sports channels, and the prize money will also be increased, but there is still a long way to go before a fair race. With our Berlin version of the "Tour de Fair" race, we want to set an example for equal women's rights in cycling.
