The City of Toledo, Oregon launched the Arts Revitalization of Toledo (ART) initiative in March 2021. The goals for this initiative are to energize Main Street and the business district with an art-centric focus and to celebrate our City’s industry and history – to the end of enticing more visitors from the coast to travel the eight miles east to experience Toledo, as well as engaging and energizing local residents.
http://arttoledo.com/ART Toledo is currently seeking volunteers to support event and programming activities and to serve on ART Toledo sub-committees. ART Toledo offers three events annually:
1. Phantom Galleries (quarterly): vacant storefronts turned into pop-up art galleries for local established as well as emerging artists to improve blight and economic opportunities
2. Arts, Oysters, & Brews (July-September): an event series celebrating local artists, food vendors and musicians, held four times over the summer in order to attract residents and tourists to the downtown area.
3. Chalk the Block (June): a family-oriented summer event that engages people of all ages and abilities to
draw fun, temporary chalk murals on the sidewalks of downtown Main Street, in order to attract tourists and residents to downtown.
Additionally, ART Toledo offers a public mural program and a beautification program. If you are interested in volunteering with ART Toledo, please complete the form below. There is no minimum time commitment. We will try our best to contact you based on your volunteer preferences. Volunteering with ART Toledo is a wonderful way to connect with the Arts community, support local activities, and engage with residents and local artists.
