A Room Parent is a liaison between the teacher and the families of students in a particular classroom. Each teacher’s classroom is assigned 2 Room Parents that are chosen by the Volunteer Coordinator. Room Parents are a great asset to the teachers and their fellow parents. They help to organize and coordinate donations and celebrations for any classroom activities a teacher may plan. Parents interested in becoming a Room Parent for their child’s classroom

Room Parents are
REQUIRED to be VIS Approved. If you are interested in being a room parent, please compete a
VIS Authorization Form AND the
VIS Application Form as soon as possible.
Attach a copy of your driver’s license along with a check or money order for $5.00 payable to BCI to your Notarized application. Your signature MUST be notarized. This authorizes the School Committee and its agents to investigate the individual’s background. As a matter of policy, the Portsmouth School Department performs this procedure in order to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated. Return your completed form and required documents to the school office. It will take approximately 2 weeks to process.
