Driggs online STEM fair 2020 - project approval
Please describe your project. You can do any kind of science, technology, engineering, or math project. Projects must be approved before a student starts his/her work. This is primarily a safety review, and also helps steer students away from doing similar projects.

It is recommended that one parent/guardian join the MemberHub STEM fair site to receive updates. You can use this link to join the STEM fair hub https://driggs.memberhub.com/hub/STEMfa38833.

Projects are submitted online using google slides as your "poster". Slides are due December 1, 2020, by 10 pm. Students will be able to talk about their project with judges December 2nd and 3rd with masks, socially distanced, and following district guidelines for sanitizing between meetings. Distance learners can be interviewed by Zoom if desired. More information can be found here: https://sites.google.com/view/driggsstemfair

Student Name *
Grade and Classroom *
Driggs STEM Fair is open to 1st - 5th grade students.
Is your project focus science or engineering? *
Required
What is your project question (science) or the problem you are trying to solve (technology, engineering)? *
How will you test your question? / Engineering: design. *
Partnering *
We recognize partnering is a fun aspect of STEM. However, if partnering, students are strongly encouraged to partner with a sibling this year. Both students will fill out a form and add their partner's name in the comments. 5th graders, to be eligible for the district fair, will need to partner within grade.
Mentoring and Supervising Adult
To protect our teacher's time, each project needs a mentor. Mentors work with 3-5 students and encourage them along in their project, answer questions, help students understand how to use the scientific method/engineering process, and the submission process. Mentors do not participate in designing or performing experiments/testing. Mentors can be the same as the supervising adult, or you can ask for a mentor (just write in "I need a mentor"). Mentors communicate with students using parent's emails, phones, or texts to check in on a student's progress. Mentors do not replace the supervising adult. Parent mentors should follow the mentoring guidelines regarding experimental design, execution, and submission - guiding, but not telling your student what to do.
Mentoring options *
Who is your supervising adult? What is their contact phone number and email? *
This is usually a parent/guardian, but could be another adult your parent/guardian trusts. Supervising adults are required. Like mentors, supervising adults guide, but do not do things for the student or tell them what to do.
