In 2021 the SA schools team will be competing in the Australian Schools Orienteering championships as part of the National carnival to be held in St Helens, Tasmania in the September/October school holidays.
More information about the National carnival can be found in this link:
https://aoc2020.tasorienteering.asn.au/ The team that will be selected based on the criteria set out below will be looking to build on the success of recent years, including last years 2nd overall place in the carnival held in Wagga Wagga. The team will be selected by an independent panel of orienteers, with the chair being the appointed Schools team coach.
As in previous years, the focus for selection will be on participation and results at the Schools Selection Trial Events, and the Junior Arrows trainings and training camp held July (Date TBC). Results from 2021 National League races, the Easter Carnival in NSW, or any overseas major competitions will also form part of the extended criteria for selection.
The minimum age selection criteria is that you must be turning 12 years old during 2021, regardless of whether you are in primary or high school. Sign off from your school principal will be required should you be successful in being selected.
