(EVENT IS NOW FULL - SUBSEQUENT ENTRIES WILL GO ON A WAITING LIST WHICH GIVES PRIORITY FOR THE NEXT OTB EVENT I RUN. )
Brighouse Building, Cheney School, Cheney Lane, Oxford OX3 7QH
Sunday 25th April 2021 10.00am - 5.00pm
U12 age groups or younger
Entry fee £20, entrants must be ECF silver members or above
Capacity: 32 children
Intended: 4 x 8 player all-play-all, 7 rounds
Prizes : Trophies of 1st/2nd/3rd in each section
Time control: Top two sections: 20 min + 10 sec, bottom two sections 15 min + 10 second (may be adjusted)
Children must be under the age of 12 on 31st August 2020 (school year 7 or lower). Children aged 11 or over on the day of the tournament must wear a face covering during play.
The overall capacity is 32 children. Children will be split by strength into all-play-all sections. For this purpose a mixture of the July 2020 OTB ECF grading list, current ECF online ratings, and current lichess rapid ratings will be used.
Given space restrictions to ensure social distancing, and resulting limited capacities, the following priority groups will be used:
Priority Group 1: Children who entered my 12th April event, were on the waiting list for it, but I could not offer a place to.
Priority Group 2: (a) Children who did not participate in my 12th April event
OR (b) children resident or attending school in Oxfordshire
OR (c) England juniors (i.e. those with realistic ability to represent England at chess internationally)
Decisions on eligibility for (c), and decisions on how many places to allocate to groups 2(a), 2(b) and 2(c) above, are at the absolute discretion of the organiser - note there is a need to ensure each section is roughly balanced in strength.
In case of excess demand, a waiting list will apply which gives priority for the next OTB tournament I run.
This tournament assumes the government roadmap proceeds to plan, with April 25th falling within step 2. In step 2, "All children will be able to attend any indoor children's activity, including sport, regardless of circumstance".
