robyn.hurliman@owhata.school.nzIt has been announced that a move to alert level 3 will allow schools to open for Year 1-10 only for very limited numbers of tamariki. It is extremely important for the safety of our kaimahi (staff), tamariki and the wider community that tamariki ONLY come onto our school site if there are no other safe options for home learning to continue through alert level 3. We will have minimal staff working onsite so we can’t guarantee that your tamaiti will have their classroom teacher. Students who attend school will continue with online learning under the supervision of our volunteer staff who will be onsite. Tamariki will be placed into a school bubble of 10 tamariki, we will keep siblings in the same bubble to minimise risk. Our activities will be very limited and social distancing will be maintained at all times. We are also limited in what resources can be shared at school (hygiene) and this may limit some tasks. We will operate from 8.30am - 2.55pm from Wednesday 1st September.
Owhata School will:
- Provide teacher supervision and a venue for our tamariki to continue their online / distance learning with their own teacher
- Provide a desk, a chair, a room to work in and access to soap, toilets, and handwashing
- Provide hand sanitisers in all used classrooms/admin
- Need to keep our playgrounds off-limits
- Need to have a ‘no bikes/scooters’ agreement with whānau
- We will be able to provide a school lunch
- Complete a full risk assessment plan and follow Ministry safety guidelines
Thank you for your support.
