Did you know that the hawksbill sea turtles of Hawai‘i (honu‘ea, in Hawaiian) are one of the most endangered populations of sea turtles in the world?
The NOAA Fisheries Pacific Islands Regional Office supports marine turtle conservation projects like the Hawaiʻi Island Hawksbill Project (HIHP). Based out of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, HIHP is a small conservation program that monitors, studies, and protects these ancient reptiles.
