Junior parkrun tends to take place on Sundays at 9:00 am.
Volunteering at parkrun is a hugely positive experience that is inclusive, respected and accessible to everyone.
Examples of lead-volunteer roles include (note these roles will be shared with another volunteer):
- Event director Responsible for ensuring the event is delivered appropriately, for building relationships with landowners, and for liaising with parkrun HQ.
- Run director Responsible for event safety and oversees proceedings during the event and at the finish line.
Examples of other volunteer roles include:
- First Timers Welcome: providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for first timers and visitors by describing parkrun, its inclusiveness and ethos, and highlighting course-specific information.
- Timekeeper(s): recording the finish times of all participants at the events (using the Virtual Volunteer app).
- Marshalls: give directions and ensure the safety of the course and cheerleading.
- Warm-up leader: taking everyone through a short pre-defined warm-up routine.
- Tail Walker: sets off at the start of the event and walks at the back of the field. A trail walker is entitled to receive both a volunteer credit and a walk/run credit.
