Examples of lead-volunteer roles include (note these roles will be shared with another volunteer):
  • Event director Responsible for ensuring the event is delivered appropriately, for building relationships with landowners, and for liaising with parkrun HQ.
  • Run director Responsible for event safety and oversees proceedings during the event and at the finish line.
Examples of other volunteer roles include:
  • First Timers Welcome: providing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for first timers and visitors by describing parkrun, its inclusiveness and ethos, and highlighting course-specific information.
  • Timekeeper(s): recording the finish times of all participants at the events (using the Virtual Volunteer app).
  • Marshalls: give directions and ensure the safety of the course and cheerleading.
  • Warm-up leader: taking everyone through a short pre-defined warm-up routine.
  • Tail Walker: sets off at the start of the event and walks at the back of the field. A trail walker is entitled to receive both a volunteer credit and a walk/run credit.
