Student Organization Leader Commitment Form
As a leader of a Calvin University Student Organization, you play a critical role on Calvin's campus. By becoming a student organization leader, you are moving beyond pursuing your passion for a cause or activity, to leading people to further develop their own passion for that cause or activity. Your job description includes running productive meetings, motivating people, and balancing your studies with your leadership and organizational responsibilities.

Thank you for committing to the following as you lead your student organization:

1. Participate in Cokes and Clubs during the first week of classes each semester

2. Create a hospitable environment fostering an acceptance and diversity of people, opinions, and experiences

3. Promote and maintain the organization's active presence on Calvin's campus

4. Develop a proactive relationship with your organization's advisor:

     • Discuss expectations with your advisor
     • Schedule regular meetings (at least once per month) with your advisor
     • Consult with your advisor before making any changes to the policies of the organization
     • Remember that the success or failure of your organization rests ultimately with the organization
     • Acknowledge and express gratitude for your advisor's time and energy
     • Notify your advisor of all major meetings, events, and projects the organization is working on
     • Consult with your advisor if an event or publication could be perceived as inappropriate

5. Facilitate regular communication with the Associate Dean of Campus Involvement and Leadership:
• Complete the goal setting form in the Fall
     • Request approval for events at least one week in advance using the event and activity form
     • Participate in an audit in November with the Student Organization Finance Committee
     • Submit a student organization mid-year self-evaluation

6. Attend and evaluate required Leadership Development sessions/training's

7. Maintain thorough and accurate financial records, requesting assistance from the Student Organization Finance Chair when necessary

8. Maintain good academic standing and exercise good judgment consistent with the student conduct code
