Dear IASE 2024 delegates,
Should you wish to participate in our pre-conference site visits, on Wednesday June 27, 2024, below you will find a list of suggested onsite settings, including schools or social services settings, provided within the city of Pilsen or nearby. We have organized nine different site visit options, each with the capacity of 5 people max and each named by a different color for better orientation. Participants will gather at a pre-arranged meeting point, the well-known and still glorified Memorial called "Thank you America," (https://cs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Díky,_Ameriko!#/map/0) located at Americká Street, on behalf of those who liberated our city in 1945. Your site visit guide, holding a ticket matching the color of your visit, will meet you there.
The first visit is scheduled for approximately 8:30 – 11:30. Following the visit, there will be a lunch break (11:30 – 12:30), provisionally scheduled at one of our well-known social enterprises – Café Restaurant Kačaba (https://kacaba.cz, Prokopova 17, 301 00, Plzeň). Here, young people with intellectual disabilities will serve you. They acquired their first social and vocational skills here, which they then applied within the open labor market. Please note that you will be responsible for paying for your lunch (best to have local currency for both) as well as a ticket for public transportation. Your guide will assist you.
The second visit is scheduled for the early afternoon, approximately from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm, depending on the location of the site and the nature of the support provided to the clientele. You will be accompanied by our experienced guides on both visits, and translation into Czech will be provided. You will be able to sign up for your choice on our website at https://iase.org.
