FAIRPoints ‘Ask me Anything’ (AMA)


This is a paid opportunity to moderate 👉🏼 each session moderator will receive 100 Euros/session for their time and work. 

FAIRPoints is launching a series of ‘Ask me Anything’ (AMA) -style events beginning in 2023, in which subject matter experts from RDA, FDO and EOSC infrastructures will be invited to moderator-led sessions. 

We are looking for a number of moderators to lead the conversations in a laid back format, during which they will pose questions to our speakers and take audience questions. Moderators are community members and researchers from varied disciplines who have a vested interest, or competence, in one or several of  the topics of interest outlined below. 

These sessions have a strong emphasis on lowering the barrier to engagement, such as using lay terms, avoiding jargon, and geared towards welcoming beginners. 

We will have initially 5 sessions with the following themes:

  • Identifiers;  What are the different types of identifiers available, why are they important for creating FAIRDigital objects, how are they relevant to researchers and how to apply them and integrate them in research practices. 

  • Machine actionability;  What is needed to achieve machine actionability (e.g. semantics, metadata, operations, types), why is automation required in research, and how do researchers create machine actionable research outputs and what tools are available to facilitate application. 

  • Equitable and transparent access to information and knowledge; What is the role of infrastructure for open and equitable access of information? How does this reflect in design decisions and how does Open and FAIR relate to or mean to the rest of the world?

  • Software & Workflows; What does the FAIRification of software and workflows look like? What are the available tools/infrastructures that support this process? Why is this important? How is this applicable to researchers and what can they do/utilise?

  • Regulatory process, and governance; What is the role of licensing, provenance, governance and regulations on practical implementations of FAIR and infrastructures  e.g. the role of HIPAA, GDPR, on technical requirements. What do these aspects mean for the deployment of FAIR Digital objects?
