On monday the 6th of february, Wouter van Hoven will give a lecture on all the different aspects of work as a wildlife veterinarian and conservationist in South-Africa. Through his work as a professor at the University of Pretoria, Wouter deals with many aspects of wildlife management and conservation. This lecture will be an elaboration on his last lecture in november 2022, in which he highlighted different cases of wildlife conservation which he has dealt with. In this lecture, he will tell us more about the work as a wildlife veterinarian in South-Africa.
Specifically, he will also tell us more about the Vets-In-The-Wild program: a 3-week program in which (veterinary) students get to experience the work of a South-African wildlife vet. This program contains not only practical training, but also lectures on all kinds of subjects, such as ecology, veterinary care, conservation and wildlife management. Over the course of 3 weeks, students get to emerse in practical and theoretical training, for which they will receive a certificate.
