HEADLINE SPEAKER: AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL 

Sexual rights (SR) are human rights norms applied to sexuality. This includes the right to freedom, equality, privacy, autonomy, integrity and dignity, free of coercion, discrimination and violence, to the highest attainable standard for all people. Everyone should be able to exercise sexual rights but how do we make this a reality and what is the role of the justice system in ensuring that?

These are some of the questions Amnesty International will answer in their talk about their #LetsTalkAboutYes campaign to kick-off the academic year! The Lecture will take place on Tuesday October 11th at 7:00 PM (location TBD). We will cover topics like what the right to sexual consent looks like, "rape culture" in the justice system and the way institutions are responding to movements like  #MeToo. For example, did you know that on International Women's Day, the Dutch Minister of Justice introduced a new Bill on sex crimes which focused on absence of consent rather than the presence of force? What does this new law entail? How is this new law applied in reality?
