408 - GOVERNMENT    (Mrs. Carr)         Rising Grades 11/12            ½ Credit

United States Government is a one-semester required history course that will examine the basic principles of our government: the Constitution, the workings of the legislative, the executive, and the judicial branches, and the sharing of power between the state and federal governments. A portion of the class is dedicated to discussion of the media, current events and political parties, as well as a further examination of constitutional principles as applied to today’s issues. Students must remain current on national events. The course will involve 9 days of required in-person attendance plus additional online lessons on your own with a final project due two weeks after the end of classes.

*Please note: This class is a fast-paced, condensed class in which one day reflects a week’s worth of work.

Dates:  June 12-22 from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM in class on campus with a Final Project due on or before July 7. (Students with special circumstances or who may need to take part of the class virtually should contact Mrs. Carr before registering.
