UW Health Nurses Appreciation Week
UW Health partners with the Madison’s Central Business Improvement District to encourage discounts for all community RNs in May 2024

DATE

  • May 6-12, 2024

Madison's Central Business Improvement District is proud to partner with UW Health to encourage member businesses to consider offering discounts to nurses in our community during National Nurses Week, May 6-12 or throughout the month of May. Nurses Week poses a unique opportunity for local businesses to show their appreciation for all the highly valued nurses in our community who make a difference in the lives of patients, families and the community, every day. This opportunity would allow chamber member businesses to thank all nurses during this special time.

“UW Health nurses appreciate getting to experience a local business or enjoy a meal at a restaurant in their community. In the past, discounts have encouraged nurses to try new places. Nurses know they are receiving the support of the local community and know they can show their appreciation for this by using the discounts to order food or shop at a new store.” states Kelli Susee, ADN, RN, Chair-Elect of the UW Health Nursing Recognition Council.

If your business is able to offer a discount to nurses from May 6-12 or throughout the month of May, please send your information or questions to: Bethany Steindl, MSN, RN, CPN, UW Health Nurses Week Committee Member and Pediatric Perioperative Services Nurse Manger, at bsteindl@uwhealth.org or 608-890-6834 by Friday, April 12. UW Health and the participating chambers will share the final list of participating businesses on their respective websites to make all community nurses aware of these local discounts.

We hope you consider this opportunity to show your business’s support of community nurses while enjoying some added exposure for your business among thousands of nurses.

400 - 600 Block Programming & Events
The City is launching an experimental pedestrian mall on the 400, 500, and 600 blocks of State St this summer. They are looking to the BID to help activate the space with programming and events.

As our team brainstorms ideas for how to use the space, we will be keeping our business community in mind! We hope to have a selection of events that can highlight, include, or promote your businesses. For example - our team is hoping to create a dog lovers 'happy hour' where folks are encouraged to bring their dogs out to mingle with other dog lovers and enjoy the space and would put the ask out for promotions and specials.

Dungeons & Dragons Downtown
The BID is putting together a special event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons. Our team is collaborating with the Wisconsin Historical Society to bring this together. For those who don't know, it's a special piece of Wisconsin History that's taken the world by storm. The creator of D&D - Gary Gygax - was living in Lake Geneva when he developed and published the game in 1974!

To celebrate and honor the anniversary we're looking to draw the community downtown for a unique takeover event! If you know where to find a real life dragon, let us know! ;)

DATE
  • July 27
Planning is in the early stages - details on how businesses can participate will be added ASAP. At the very least, we ask that you offer a D&D related special at your business - or maybe a D&D related popup! There's a lot of fun to be had here!
