STEAM ECHO Registration 2022-2023
Please apply to join the STEAM ECHO professional development, an innovative and collaborative professional development series for elementary and middle school teachers who want to:

-    Learn and share best practices to engage students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math
-    Develop fluency delivering lessons grounded in the Next Generation Science Standards
-    Gain tools, strategies, and relevant interdisciplinary lessons and resources
-    Become part of a supportive learning community

The STEAM ECHO professional development series will build on your knowledge and skills regardless of whether you are a seasoned educator or brand new to the field; whether you are proficient in STEAM or aren’t quite sure what the acronym stands for.

Here's our emerging vision of STEAM: “An educational approach to learning that uses science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, creativity, dialogue, and critical thinking.”   We encourage the group to participate in evolving this definition as a dynamic and extensible practice, rather than treat it as a fixed truth.

The STEAM ECHO will be facilitated by a cross-sector collaboration of educators passionate about STEM, STEAM, and the Next Generation Science Standards, including Explora Science Center, the Fractal Foundation, and Monte Vista expert STEAM educators.

STEAM ECHO takes place at 4:15-5:30 on roughly alternating Wednesday afternoons and consists of a kickoff session and 12 Zoom sessions from October 26, 2022 - April 26, 2023.

In submitting your application you are agreeing to the following:
Participate and contribute to the conversation. ECHO is not a spectator sport. You agree to attend at least 10 of the 12 scheduled online sessions. We will ask participants to prepare and present a STEAM based lesson to the group.  We expect you to engage respectfully and collaboratively with the group, and share your input about the lessons to help everyone learn. We’ll also have very short reflection surveys after each session, and a followup assessment at the end to help evaluate the effectiveness of the program. You also consent to be recorded during the video conferencing sessions. For any questions, please contact julie@fractalfoundation.org.
