AMBER ROYER: Understanding A and B Plot– Interweaving Subplot in Your Fiction Nov. 30, 7PM

UNDERSTANDING A AND B PLOT AND INTERWEAVING SUBPLOTS IN YOUR FICTION

Weaving together the disparate plot threads of your novel can be difficult.  Which should take up the most space on the page?  Are there some that don’t even need to be there at all?

Understanding the concept of A-Plot and B-Plot (Where A-plot raises and answers the plot question, while B-plot – and by extension C-plot and D-plot, if you have multiple subplots – comments on, echoes or counterpoints what’s going on in the A-Plot.) can help streamline the process.  Phew!  It can also make for a more cohesive and resonate final product.

Amber will discuss how to use A-and B-plot, and show examples of how subplots get interlaced with the main narrative.  Are you up for it?  Sure you are.  See you there.

AMBER ROYER

Amber Royer is the author of The Chocoverse Science Fiction Series and The Bean to Bar Mysteries.  She likes to tell stories of complex characters caught up in sticky situations larger than themselves, with no easy answers in sight.  If you’re looking for flawed romantic leads, danger and adventure, and optimistic multicultural themes, you’re probably in the right place.

Amber uses her more than 14 years of creative writing teaching experience to help writers understand sound psychological character creation.  She uses her voice blog about writing craft, conduct interviews with other writers, and to talk about her work with chocolate.  On Amber’s website, www.amberroyer.com, you will find that she enjoys experimenting with food and recipes.  Many of her experiments and discoveries are documented on her Instagram and YouTube channel.  Spend time with her content to find writing prompts, coffee and chocolate pics, and her newest joint venture: The Office Cacao Project.
