Town of Dunn Rural Internet Access Survey
The Dane County Board of Supervisors has created the Dane County Broadband Task Force to create a greater community understanding of Dane County's challenges related to high-speed, reliable, and affordable internet access for the County as a whole; prepare local partners in Dane County to have the background and knowledge to apply for various grants and funding to expand access to unserved and underserved areas of the county; and increase awareness of the issues those without reliable internet access face in day-to-day life including remote learning, remote work, and virtual health appointments.

There are locations throughout Dane County and the Town of Dunn where residences and businesses do not have access to Broadband Internet. Oftentimes, these potential customers are remarkably close to locations that already have access to Broadband Internet. Vendors make decisions to service locations based on having numerous customers closely clustered together. This ensures enough customer revenue is generated within a certain period of time to generate a profit and recoup the costs of their construction investment. When this is not achievable, vendors choose not to service the area or require the customer to contractually pay a construction fee - which can be thousands of dollars.

The Town of Dunn is seeking to obtain information regarding internet access throughout the Town, specifically, residences, farms, and businesses who desire Broadband internet for access to the internet but are currently unable to due to lack of available vendors. The results of this survey will be provided to the Dane County staff completing the county-wide study. Completion of this survey will not guarantee that you will receive internet service but it will help provide Dane County and internet service providers with an idea of where gaps in service exist.
