Petition to Enroll in ENVS Upper-Division Courses - Without Completion of ENVS 100/L Prerequisite
***REMINDER: We may not be able to accept everyone who petitions for an upper div. We will prioritize students who have already taken ENVS 100/L first, and then we will accept students who are petitioning after that, as space allows. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL US TO ASK ABOUT YOUR PETITION -- we promise we haven't forgotten about you, and will follow up when we know whether we can accept you or not!

-------------------------------------
➡️ READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE PETITIONING:

- UCSC STUDENTS MAJORING IN ENVS BA or AGROECOLOGY BA: You may petition to take up to 2 ENVS upper division courses before ENVS 100/L.

- UCSC STUDENTS MAJORING IN ENVS/BIO, ENVS/ECON, or ENVS/EART: You may petition to take up to 1 ENVS upper division course before ENVS 100/L.

-UCSC STUDENTS MAJORING IN PLANT SCIENCES: If you are declared in Plant Sciences, you may take an unlimited number of ENVS upper divs.

- UCSC STUDENTS IN OTHER NON-ENVS MAJORS: You must be declared in your non-ENVS major. You may petition to take up to 3 ENVS upper division courses.

- VISITING STUDENTS: Non-UCSC students may petition to take up to 3 ENVS upper division courses.

------------------------------------------
➡️ OTHER NOTES:
1. You can petition for multiple courses, but you will only be accepted for a certain amount (based on your major as listed above, the availability of the courses, etc).

2. Submit one petition for each course. ONE PETITION = ONE COURSE. If you combine multiple courses into one petition, your petition will not be reviewed.

3. ENVS and AGEC majors must have completed all of the prerequisites for ENVS 100/L in order to be approved to take upper divs.

4. Priority is always given to students who have already taken ENVS 100/L. If a course has reached its capacity, you will not be allowed to jump the waitlist (you will be given a waitlist code in that case, which will just allow you to join the waitlist, not override it).

------------------------------------------
➡️ WHEN WILL YOU HEAR BACK?
Fall, winter, spring -- During the regular academic year, you will hear back after second pass of enrollment. You will receive an email with a permission code if you have been approved, and you will be notified if you have been denied or any other special circumstance. The reason why we wait until second pass is so that we give priority to students who have met all the prerequisites.

Summer -- If you are petitioning to take an upper div course during the summer, we will get back to you within 4-5 business days with a decision via email.

------------------------------------------
➡️ SPECIAL CASES
- ENVS 104A/L cannot be taken before ENVS 100/L, so petitions for 104A/L will not be approved
- ENVS 115A/L, 115B, and ENVS 115C must be taken in sequence (so 115B cannot be taken without 115A/L, etc)
