Now hiring: Web Editor for nonprofit association dedicated to health care journalism

OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a Web Editor to manage the Association of Health Care Journalists’ primary website, HealthJournalism.org, and lead the effort to optimize and grow digital content and educational programming across all our platforms.

WHO WE ARE

The Association of Health Care Journalists is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing public understanding of health care issues. Our mission is to improve the quality, accuracy and visibility of health care reporting, writing and editing among our roughly 1,500 members. 

The  Center for Excellence in Health Care Journalism is a supporting 501(c)(3) for AHCJ, and works to ensure journalists are properly trained to cover news events, trends and issues in all aspects of health care journalism.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply journalistic, critical thinking skills to the management of AHCJ’s primary website, HealthJournalism.org and our health data websites, with a particular focus on keeping the homepage fresh and up to date with content that reflects the organization’s priorities
  • Help shape the redesign and workflow of the website
  • Manage the execution of educational our webinars
  • Provide follow-up support for the posting and/or distribution of recordings, presentations and other content generated by our training 
  • Oversee the overall SEO strategy for HealthJournalism.org
  • Create and maintain a keyworded digital asset management system for the ongoing curation of art on AHCJ’s websites and social media
  • Seek ways proactively to improve our members’ experience of our website and platforms
  • Collaborate across the AHCJ team on growth strategy and building our digital audience
  • Foster an environment of diversity, equity and inclusion that upholds the organization’s values and strategic goals 
  • Attend AHCJ’s in-person events as needed
  • Create documentation and automated workflows when possible to ensure efficiency and redundancies for core AHCJ web functions
  • Assist the team with prompt and efficient troubleshooting

START DATE: Negotiable, but ideally February or March 2023

COMPENSATION: $55,000-$60,000 annual salary, plus benefits

LOCATION: Remote or hybrid. AHCJ is based at the University of Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia, Missouri. However, we have staff that are remote and hybrid. We are open to remote candidates with the understanding that occasional travel may be required.
