A Quilt of Wildlife in Lockdown
Welcome and thank you for joining our wildlife hanging workshop! We are excited to begin.

About the project:
Severe restrictions on movement during the Covid-19 pandemic has meant that we have been mostly confined to our local areas. During daily walks you may well have become more aware of the biodiversity on our doorstep.

We will be felting some of the wild (and not so wild) life we have noticed that will then be sewn together into a large ‘quilt’ tapestry and projected onto different land/streetscapes.

You will produce a felted square featuring either a plant or animal you have come across during your walks, or something that used to be common but you no longer see. It could be a robin, crow, sycamore, brambles, spiders, nettle, ivy or a fox. Or it might be the disappearing hedgehogs, butterflies or bees. No prior knowledge of felting is required and we will provide you with all the materials you need as well as access to online video guides and handouts with step-by-step guides on how to felt and embroider your work. Three online sessions, approximately an hour long, will be provided via zoom so that you can discuss your plans and problem solve any challenges. We will share our work and ideas via a shared padlet and Whatsapp group.

To participate you need to confirm you will be able to attend all of the sessions and will return your work back to us at the end of the project so it can be sewn into a quilt, photographed and filmed for display. The next step is fill out this form so we can set up the online sessions which will start the week after Easter weekend (April 6th)  All information given here will only be used for the purposes of setting up the sessions. We will not share your data with anyone else and will delete the data after the workshop ends.
