What’s New This Year?

This year we will be accepting nominations for 6 fabulous young professionals from The Tompkins County community. Categories are: Business Leader of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Non-Profit of the Year,  Rookie of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and for this award season, we are introducing a new category, Essential Worker "Hero" of the Year. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this sixth “essential worker” award has been added for a young professional who has put forth an extraordinary effort to better our community throughout these turbulent times.

We will encourage our judges to consider individuals in all categories who have been a 2020 superhero by showing strong leadership, resilience and creativity in a way that benefitted a social justice cause, helped the community during the pandemic, or has made an impact on society in a positive way this past year.

Descriptions of Awards:

• Business Leader of the Year - The Fab5 Young Professional Business Leader of the Year is an individual who has excelled in demonstrating their leadership ability as a business professional in the Tompkins County area. This leader has shown great Teamwork/Communication, Perseverance and Vision.
• Entrepreneur of the Year - The Fab5 Young Professional Entrepreneur of the Year is an individual who has managed a new business venture, taking on personal risk to do so, and is deserving of additional recognition due to their entrepreneurial spirit. This person shows great Leadership skills, Innovation and Tenacity.
• Not-for-Profit of the Year - The Fab5 Young Professional Not-for-Profit Leader of the Year is an individual who has shown a remarkable aptitude for leadership in a not-for-profit organization. This leader has shown great Leadership skills, Strategic thinking, and Passion.
• Rookie of the Year - The Fab5 Young Professional Rookie of the Year has recently taken on a new position or freshly entered the workforce altogether. During this time, this person has demonstrated noteworthy performance and deserves to be acknowledged. This professional has shown great Enthusiasm, Development and Self-Motivation.
• Volunteer of the Year - The Fab5 Young Professional Volunteer of the Year deserves additional recognition for their exceptional performance while volunteering in the Tompkins County Community. This volunteer has shown great Motivation, Commitment and Passion
• Essential Worker "Hero" of the Year: A sixth “essential worker” award has been added this year for a young professional who has put forth an extraordinary effort to better our community throughout these turbulent times.
