The information below explains what this survey is and what important information you should know before you decide to take it. If you select "yes" to the question below, you will be taken to the survey. If you select "no", you will not take the survey.

This is a survey for Prof. Jane Sumner's POL 3085 (Quantitative Political Analysis) class at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. In this class, students work in groups to develop research questions and theories, and then design research projects to test those theories. The questions on this survey were written by students for that purpose, and your answers will be used by the students in the statistical analyses for their class project (a poster and a paper).

This survey has not been submitted to or reviewed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the University of Minnesota because it is for a class project and therefore does not require review. However, here are some things you should know before you decide to take the survey:

1. No personal information about you will be collected, kept, or stored except for the information you voluntarily give us on this survey. That means we will not know who you are, where you are, or any information other than the answers to the questions you give us in this survey.

 2. Your information will be used by the students in this class to complete their projects, but will not be used for published scientific research.

3. We cannot guarantee the confidentiality of your answers. The data will only be made available to the students in the class, the professor, and the TA, but we cannot guarantee others will not have access to it. Please do not volunteer any information you think is sensitive! If you are concerned about the confidentiality of your answers, please do not take the survey.

4. You may stop taking the survey at any time. Even if you don't finish the survey, you are still providing some information for the students.

5. There is no benefit to you in participating in this research.

This survey is helping the students answer questions about the political landscape in the United States today. Therefore, the survey contains questions about themes that some people may find challenging but are nonetheless important aspects of American politics. The survey contains questions about the following themes: communism, support for communism. If you do not want to continue, please select "No" for the question below, or just close out this window.
