Please complete a separate contract for each child in your household by Wednesday, July 22.
Please complete this contract ONLY if you plan for your child to do virtual learning at home. For the virtual learning option, the child must have daily access to a high-speed Internet service, compatible device, and daily adult supervision to assist the child as needed. The expectations for student work will reflect classroom expectations. This will be a full-time commitment for students and parents.
This virtual option WILL NOT look like the distance learning that took place in the spring of 2020. By agreeing to this online learning option, you agree:
1. There will be a full workload with all classes each day. The rigor will match that of the classroom.
2. The commitment for online learning is for one semester (August 7- December 18). If students begin the online option and decide to opt-out, the deadline for transitioning to face-to-face instruction is Friday, August 14.
3. Parents must purchase a $25 protection plan per device in order to take home a CCS-issued device. *Power adapters are not covered. Fees may apply if not returned.
4. Work will be assigned and graded as if the student were present at school.
5. Students will be enrolled in self-paced online classes through an online learning management system using Edgenuity.
6. Students will need SIGNIFICANT assistance from an adult (parent/guardian) who will become their learning coach.
7. Attendance will be taken daily as students login and complete assignments.
8. Students will follow the calendar adopted by Commerce City Schools Board of Education.
9. All assessments and assignments are completed by your child without the aid of course materials or others unless specified.
10. Per the Department of Family and Children Services, children younger than 9 should not stay home alone; children ages 9-12 should not stay home alone for more than two hours; and children younger than 13 should not act as babysitters. As mandated reporters, any virtual teacher who suspects a student is in an unsafe situation must report it to DFACS.
