The COVID-19 pandemic has forever changed how we manage disasters and reduce disaster risks. The global pandemic not only posed challenges to public healthcare, but also affected the whole socio-economic system. Such combination of different hazards can make risks systematic, more complex, and often cascading. 

This course aims at introducing the importance of ensuring continuity of healthcare infrastructure during and post disaster. It will identify and describe the impact of disasters on the healthcare system and the implications for ensuring provision of services to a community or a nation. The course will consider the key elements in planning for disasters to the healthcare regime and how a system can be rehabilitated.
