MPC Volunteer Form
Thank you for your interest in Houston Christian High School’s parent association, the Mustang Parent Council!

As a vital and engaging piece of Houston Christian’s community, we work to enhance and support our school’s spirit and culture to provide the best educational experience for our students, teachers, and families of Houston Christian.

If you’re looking to volunteer or become or involved in our campus culture, I invite you to read the exciting and relevant ways our parents serve our students in the list below. There’s a multitude of needs that can only be filled by a multitude of talents. Along with volunteering at school, the MPC also provides each grade level with a parent who serves as a school liaison, and sends out weekly informational notices relevant to your student’s grade. There are also quarterly parent lunches for each grade where school staff and MPC representatives give brief updates on upcoming events and school information.

We invite you to explore the options below of how to become involved in building dynamic, ethical leaders of the next generation. Check as many opportunities as you'd like. Thank you for your support!

Promotions Volunteer Opportunities
Uniform Resale
Volunteers are occasionally needed to help with Uniform Resale.  Volunteers would assist in gathering
and organizing donations, as well as assist with running uniform resale events.

Spirit Wear
Are you free on Fridays during the day? We need help each week filling orders, unpacking new
inventory, and selling at events. If you have afternoon/evenings available, we can certainly use your help
too! We will have occasional Tuesday and Wednesday night sporting events as well, where our Spirit
Store will be showcased!

Hospitality Volunteer Opportunities
College Fair
Welcome representatives from colleges and universities across the country during this one-day event in
the Fall. Refreshments and a warm smile are offered as these reps inform our students about the wide
range of opportunities available to them. Volunteers help our Lead Parent shop for food and organize a
light breakfast and carts filled with water and refreshment offered throughout the day. It’s a great way to
get out campus and be with the kids.

Grandparents Day
This is the largest event held on our campus and has many volunteer opportunities including preparation,
shopping for supplies, decorations, set up, serving, greeting, clean up, etc. You choose how much time
and what days and hours you want to participate, but this one takes our whole village! Come be a part of
seeing our grandparents enjoy our beautiful campus and have a special time with their grandkids. It is an
event that warms the heart!

Veterans Day
Help decorate the chapel and prepare for our Veterans Day Celebration.

International Festival
This is a one-day event for and by the students that you will not want to miss, and your ticket to be there
is to volunteer! Display tables with decorations and foods from different countries are supplied by
parents. Join a group of parents that are representing a certain country or add a new country to the
festivities and start a new tradition. International dance and song performances are given by the kids and
the array of food is amazing. Join us for this fabulous event! It’s a quick, half-day volunteer opportunity
and so much fun!

Alumni Homecoming
Do you have HC Alumni? Come help prepare, decorate, and host our returning students for light snacks
and refreshments in the Alumni Room during the Homecoming Football Game.

Campus Christmas Decorating
This is a fun, social parent event that takes place one evening in November. We have a light dinner then
get to work decorating all the campus Christmas Trees. A fun way to spend some time with other parents
and meet some new people!

Spring Transfer Family Coffee
Do you have a heart for welcoming the new kid on the block (and their parents)? Come help us do just
that during a coffee for incoming transfer families in January.

Concessions - Throughout the Year
A wonderful way to get involved and meet new people is to help with our concession stands during
sporting events. The shifts are less than 2 hours most of the time and you can stay and enjoy the game.
Periodically the school hosts tournaments and SPC events and needs extra help from parents outside the
sports families so those families can watch their kids instead of serving concessions. Consider being a
part of our back up group and represent our school, welcoming people to our campus!

students one afternoon per month. Sign-up to help with set-up, easy clean-up, or serving and greeting

Development Volunteer Opportunities
Golf Tournament
Join us as we kick off the school year with the annual Mustang Classic at Blackhorse Golf Club on
Monday October 10, 2022. This will be our first fund raising activity of the year! Parents and friends of
HC are invited to enjoy a day of golf and fellowship while supporting the annual fund. Volunteers will be
asked to help recruit players and with the setup for the tournament.

Mustang Fund
While tuition and fees cover 90% of our school’s operating expenses, the Mustang Fund fills the gap for
the needs of facilities, student activities, faculty, financial aid, athletics and more. The Development
Committee needs volunteers for each grade level to reach out to our HC community during the fall
semester to ask for support for the Mustang Fund.

Gala
The HC Gala hosts more than 200 attendees annually in the spring for the most amazing celebration of the
year. The Gala Committee needs help with planning, logistics, and gathering live and silent auction items
to help this exciting party run smoothly. This committee works together throughout the school year until
Gala occurs to ensure a successful fund-raising event.
