The Ground Up Business Incubator will provide community, resources and ongoing coaching for a group of Detroit-based aspiring entrepreneurs. Participants will have the option to live in our residence or participate in the programming without the residential component.
For Residential Candidates: The Ali Legacy House is a residential property, named in honor of the late Ismail Ali. Ali is the original inspiration behind the Coalition’s mentoring group, The Man to Man Project. This space will house three Ground Up aspiring entrepreneurs. By providing affordable housing, participants will have more flexibility to invest in themselves and their entrepreneurial interests.
For ALL Candidates: Throughout the year, The BLAC Coalition will provide ongoing programming opportunities for the aspiring entrepreneurs. The purpose of these opportunities is to strengthen our relationships and impact in the community while developing the next generation of business leaders in the City of Detroit. Programming offers will include a community of like-minded peers, text studies, an individualized holistic coaching plan, industry mentorship, service projects and community building activities.
We are seeking the wisdom and expertise of our beloved community to help us find candidates well-suited to join the apprenticeship program. The ideal candidate is:
- A highly motivated young adult between 20-29 years old (residents should identify as male; all genders welcome to apply for apprenticeship)
- Interested in developing and owning a Detroit-based business
- A team-player who can live communally with two other young adults
- Committed to investing in Detroit and developing professionally and personally
- Coachable and willing to follow their coaching plan with fidelity
- Gainfully employed and able to pay $600/month in rent plus utilities (if residential)
