AFP Greater Madison 2024 Mentorship Application - Mentee
AFP Greater Madison will determine your suitability for the Mentorship Program based on the information you provide below. Mentors and Mentees are expected to commit a minimum of 1 hour per month. The program begins in June 2024 and runs for 1 year. We recommend that both partners advise their employer if they intend to participate in this program.

Applications are due by Sunday, May 5, 2024. Please email a copy of your current resume to Pete Schwieger at pjschwieger@gmail.com after submitting your application and contact Pete with any questions.

Application Process:

Mentee candidates should complete the application form providing background information about themselves and indicating the practice areas in which they are seeking guidance. Applications will be reviewed by the mentorship committee, candidates will be approved, and then matches made.

Mentor and mentee matches will be made based on a careful review of the applications, demographic information/requests, professional & volunteer experiences, mutual interests, and compatibility in knowledge areas. Some candidates may not be approved or matched in an application cycle and they will be notified of the status or ineligibility of their application.

If a suitable match cannot be made, then the committee will help the applicant re-examine their preferences and needs in pursuit of the best match relationship.

Processed applications will be kept on file for one year and must be updated annually thereafter.

Applicants do not need to be a current member of AFP Greater Madison. Anyone meeting the criteria below is encouraged to apply.

Mentee Eligibility:

- Seeking to strengthen their skills through mentee/mentor joint identification and focus on specific areas of practice
- Able to promote a positive relationship with mentor
- Committed to a minimum of 1 hour contact per month with mentor either face-to-face (in-person or virtual), phone and/or email over a one year period

The mentee must be able to articulate the areas of focus to work on with the mentor to achieve personal growth in the profession. The advice will be limited to career advice and/or specific fund-raising advice to be used to enhance the fundraising program of the charitable organization with which the partner is associated. The relationship is meant to be career specific and is not to be used or construed in any way as a consulting relationship.
