Yes! I am interested in being a Pilot Coordinator
About TRANSITION US:
Transition US is the national hub of an international Transition Towns Movement, now found in 50+countries around the world. The mission of Transition US (www.TransitionUS.org) is to catalyze and strengthen a national network of people-powered groups who are building local resilience through community action. There are now 166 official Transition Initiatives in 37 states activating the public, reclaiming the economy, sparking entrepreneurship, reimagining work, reskilling community members, weaving webs of connection and support, hosting courageous conversations, and patiently mending the torn fabric of society.

TRANSITION STREETS ON-A-BUDGET is a 7-chapter / 7-meeting project and is a behavior-change project intended to combat climate change at a household level. With a thorough and well-laid-out handbook neighbors come together with neighbors to implement simple no-cost and low-cost actions. These actions cut household energy use, reduce water and waste, change how we eat and transport ourselves, and strengthen our neighborhoods at the same time.

CONTENTS: user-friendly handbook, facilitation guides, and a clear process for working together to significantly increase individual and collective impacts.

PILOT COORDINATORS NEEDED!
Seven-session pilots to be completed by MARCH 31, 2020. Transition US is looking for up to six coordinators to pilot: Transition Streets On-A-Budget. Each project coordinator is eligible for a $700 stipend.

We are looking for pilot coordinators to each coordinate seven meetings with 5 – 8 households preferably on the same street or in the same neighborhood. The reason is that doing these projects with near-neighbors has the benefit of increasing social cohesion in the place where you live. At these meetings, near-neighbors will go through a handbook together, and between meetings, participants will take actions they committed to take at their meeting. Each meeting lasts approximately 2 hours and can be convened at participants’ homes, a local café, a library or other free community space.

Ideally each of the pilot locations will help galvanize working families, renters, or those of limited budgets to implement cost and and energy-saving measures.

Please let us know if you would like to be a considered to coordinate a pilot and:
Recruit participants (members of 5 -8 households). Outreach materials can be adapted or personalized.
Help to schedule the meetings / location(s)
Facilitate at least the first meeting
Attend and provide support to those facilitating subsequent meetings
Make sure participants have either print or online copies of the handbooks
Record (in writing) participant feedback after each session
Provide feedback to Transition US at the end of the pilot
