COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Summer Portfolio Intensiveย (high school students only)
This 5 week course is for high schoolers who are preparing for college admission in artย and would like to have a focused time and space to finish a body of work to be included in the college application.ย Students will get an overview of the art application process and learn best practices for building and submitting a portfolio. This is a required course for current students applying for college in Fall 2023.ย
Exhibition-Makingย Classย (high school students only)
Over the course of 5 weeks, students will produce an exhibition of their own from beginning to end. Through this process, students will develop a deeper understanding of the art of exhibition making, gain the practical skills needed to put on a successful exhibition, and get a glimpse of what itโs like to pursue a career in the creative field. Students will learn about the various elements that make up an exhibition and execute the roles of a curator, writer, editor, marketer, graphic designer, spatial designer, an art handler, documentation photographer, event producer, and of course, an artist.
*Exhibition is scheduled to be held at the end of this course, but is subject to change depending on availability and circumstances.ย
Visual Thinking
Create a summer masterpiece in 5 weeks! In this 5-week summer course, students will create a fun painting project that reflect the dynamic energy of summer. In the process, students will be introduced to foundational drawing and painting techniques, learn about modern and contemporary artists, and engage in exciting exercises that will help students to think and create visually.ย
Studio Time
Students may drop in and out of our studio and work on their projects under the supervision of a Drawwing Cabinet staff member. Studio will be open July 11 to August 9, Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10am to 6pm.
