Howe Public Schools Online Safety Parent/Guardian Presentation
Howe Public Schools has scheduled two online safety presentations for Thursday, Sept. 21 during the Parent/Teacher Conference evening. 

UPDATED 09/18/23 - Due to scheduling conflicts and to ensure parents will have enough time to attend the presentation & visit with teachers, we have decided to offer 2 sessions. Parents/guardians/custodial parents/custodial grandparents, please choose EITHER session that you would like to attend. THIS IS FOR ADULTS ONLY. NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 YEARS OF AGE WILL BE ALLOWED INTO THE PRESENTATION DUE TO THE  CONTENT.

Session 1: (3:30 pm - 4:30 pm) UPDATED TIME

Session 2: (4:45 pm - 5:45 pm) UPDATED TIME

Please RSVP by Wednesday, Sept. 20th with this form. Parents/Guardians and custodial parents/custodial grandparents of our Howe Public Schools students are invited to attend. After the presentation, the family member who attends the entire presentation will receive a meal ticket for their family.  Meal ticket includes: 1 hamburger or 1 hotdog + fixins' + 1 bag of chips, & 1 bottle of water per immediate family member (this includes: mom/dad/guardian or custodial parent/custodial grandparent, Howe students, and their siblings under the age of 18). 

Presentation details: Homeland Security Computer Forensics Expert, Anthony Meter, will provide valuable information concerning how to keep our children safer online and will give professional safety tips for those who attend. The following topics will be covered: cyber bullying, dangerous apps, dark web, fentanyl, sextortion, human trafficking, and sexting. 

School Age Childcare: During the event we will have child care available for school age children (Pre-K & up) on the front lawn of the school in the form of various blow up slides. Staff members and student volunteers will monitor and watch over children while their parents are in the meeting. Immediately following the meeting, you will receive your meal tickets, you may pick up your children, & proceed to the Grill located between the Auditorium & cafeteria. You may pick up your food and eat in the cafeteria or take it to go.

GoGuardian Parent is an application available on devices running iOS and Android designed to enable IT Administrators to share managed user history collected via GoGuardian Admin and GoGuardian Teacher with verified parents and guardians.GoGuardian Parent now provides Parents and Guardians with the ability to pause their children's internet, block specific websites, and schedule internet availability on managed devices. These features have no guaranteed functionality on personally owned, unmanaged student devices.

  1. Website Filtering
    Allows guardians to block students from accessing specific websites during out of school hours.
  2. On Demand Internet Pausing
    Allow guardians to pause internet access on demand for students during out of school hours.
  3. Scheduled Internet Pausing
    Allow guardians to schedule periods of paused internet access for students during out of school hours.
