Black Film Screenings in The Hague: My Friend Fela (2019)
This screening is organized in collaboration with the Afro Student Association and takes part during the exhbition "Black Hair in The Hague: Conversations on the Lockdown", which is showcasing from 6-14 November 2021 at The Grey Space in the Middle in The Hague.

Sign up for the second screening of a series of African and Afrodiasporic films in The Hague on Sunday 14 November 2021!

'My Friend Fela' (2019) "explores the life of legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti from the perspective of his longtime friend Carlos Moore" (thenet.ng "African Film Festival Atlanta announces Leading Feature Films").

The film adds a perspective on the Nigerian musician Fela Kuti to counter the often portrayed narrative as Fela “as an eccentric African pop idol of the ghetto”, according to director Joel Zito Araújo. "The complexity of Fela’s life is unravelled through the eyes and conversations of his close friend and official biographer, the African-Cuban Carlos Moore" (International Film Festical Rotterdam "My friend Fela").

After the screening there is time to discuss + converse with each other.
All screenings are safer spaces for Black people and we especially encourage Black students in The Hague and surrounding areas  to come.

Date: Sunday 14 November 2021
Time: 13:00 - 15:00
Place: The Grey Space in the Middle (Paviljoensgracht 20, 2512 BP Den Haag)
