Course Description:
The Spanish I course is prepared in conjunction with the state core curriculum requirements and other content as designated by district and school administrators. The core can be found on the state office of education website. The students will learn fundamental Spanish for use in the workplace and community as well as cultures and practices.
Rules/ Behavior Policy:
Rules and behavior policies will be decided by students and teacher based on respect for one another. Cheating has no place in the classroom. Consequences of policy violations, as well as expectations met, may result in citizenship and academic repercussions.
School Policies and Procedures:
The attendance policy, dress code, electronic devices policy, and other building policies will be reaffirmed and practiced in class. These policies can be found on the web site.
Grading Criteria:
A+: >100%
B : 83-86%
C: 70-72%
F : <60%
A : 94-100%
B : 80-82%
D+: 67-69%
A : 90-93%
C+: 77-79%
D : 63-66%
B+: 87-89%
C : 73-76%
D: 58-60%
Grades will be updated often and are available on the portal.
Quizzes and Assignments:
Students will have sufficient time to complete assignments during class. Absent, or makeup, work will be received for up to 5 school days following the absence. After 5 days, the best score a late assignment can earn is 60%. Textbooks will not be assigned to the students. Students’s grades will be determined by 3 categories: 1. Assignments (Turning in work on time) 2. Diarios (Completing daily journals) and 3. Quizzes/tests.
Citizenship, Attendance and Hall Passes:
Building policies will be applied to students concerning attendance and unexcused tardies. Students will receive two hall pass coupons per quarter. All unused coupons can be submitted for extra credit redemption at the end of each quarter.
Materials:
These items must be brought with student each day to class to participate. Extra pencils, except those picked up off the floor after classes, will not be provided.
Notebook or Composition Book Paper Writing utensils
Technology :
Cell phones, music players and other electronic devices are not allowed in class as per school policy. Any and all assignments and activities requiring the use of technology can be successfully completed using the in-class chromebooks.
