8th Grade Course Selection Sheet 2021-2022
Students that will be in 8th grade NEXT YEAR will use this sheet to express their interest in elective courses.
Core Classes will be selected for you based on available data.
Please place a check next to 4 of the classes below that you are interested in.
Your placement into these classes will be based on available seats, budget, and other factors.
These offerings may change without notice and we cannot guarantee placement into any course.
All students will be registered for one semester of Physical Education (as required by the State).
A full year P.E. option is available below.
Students with data indicating below grade level reading ability will be placed into Intensive Reading or Critical Thinking Skills.
If a course requires a teacher approval, we will send the form directly to that teacher.

Spanish 1 (H. S. Credit) Full Year    *Students that may be entering the AICE Cambridge program in High School must have one year of foreign language prior to entrance to the program. This can be done either in 8th grade at school or via an online course such as FLVS.
Spanish 2 (H. S. Credit) Full Year (Only for students who have already completed Spanish 1)
Computing-Computer Fundamentals-Year Long, High School Credit.      Students with FSA Math score of Level 3 or higher may be placed in this course automatically.  Students will learn web development, internet business, and network technology. This course leads to CIW Certification and 1 High School credit.
Newsletter/Journalism  (Upon Approval) Full Year
Yearbook  (Full YEar) (You MUST compete an application online and be approved by Ms. Gum. The Google Class Code to apply is: xmhtvn6  
Physical Education Full Year Option
Physical Science as an Elective (H.S. Credit) If you took Accelerated/Advanced Science in 7th Grade, this you will be registered for this class as your 8th grade science class.
Business and IT  (one semester)  Explores future occupational goals in the technology industry, and will include personal finance, the stock market, etc.
Art   (1 semester)
Spanish Intermediate for those that have taken Beginning Spanish.     1 semester
Health     1 semester    Explores topics such as diet and nutrition, drugs tobacco and alcohol, how to stay healthy, first aid, etc.
CNN News Team       1 semester      Approval required from Ms. Satterly.
