Dear Parents/Guardians,
As per our school policy # 5131.3 Student Use of Bicycles, students are permitted
to ride bikes to school. The School Safety Team works diligently to assure that
riders have been educated each year with regard to the safe and responsible
operation of bicycles and there are certain conditions that must be met each year in
order to be granted permission to ride. The conditions are as follows:
Parent/Guardian’s permission must be given.
Student must read and sign this contract agreeing to observe all conditions.
Student must wear a bicycle helmet at all times when operating the bicycle.
Student will securely lock the bicycle to the bike rack, which is located next
to the playground in the horseshoe area. (Please note that Quinton Township
School will not be responsible for lost, stolen or vandalized bicycles on either
school property or while traveling to or from school.)
Student along with parent must review the “What’s the Law Anyway? A
Quick Guide to “New Jersey Bicycle and Pedestrian Laws” safety information
link:
njbickeped.org as well as the attached Bike Rules Information Sheet.
If any of the conditions of this contract are not observed, student’s riding
privileges may be withdrawn.
Student Statement: In order to ride my bicycle to school, I agree to the conditions in
this contract. Also, I agree that I need to be concerned about the safety of
pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles as well as my own safety when operating
my bicycle. I will walk my bike on the sidewalks and follow all adult directions. I
will wear my helmet and lock my bike. I understand that the school is not
responsible for the care and protection of my bicycle.
