Guiding criteria

(I) Session proposals should reflect on this year’s theme ("Public Education at a Crossroads: The Role of RPPs in Promoting Democracy”)

(II) Session proposals might consider taking up one of the following topical strands (but note that we are open to receiving proposals from any topic, whether or not that strand is represented here):
  • Centering equity in RPPs
  • RPPs and supporting use of research evidence
  • Examining the nuts and bolts of RPPs (documents, structures, managing the people and activities within RPPs, etc.)
  • Building the field of RPPs
  • Strategizing RPP work to respond to critical topics in education
(III) Special note about session design: We strive to make the Annual Forum a dynamic, collaborative learning space for RPPers from all walks of life. To that end, we ask that session submissions prioritize two-way engagement across facilitators and audience members, and limit one-way transmission of knowledge (i.e., presenter to audience). We will work with you to help design your session to meet this goal!

(IV) Session type: We welcome you to submit all kinds of session formats, keeping in mind the special note about audience engagement. For example, you could submit:
  • a wondering session where the aim is really to generate questions and ideas
  • an incubator session where the aim might be to iterate on an idea (or a few ideas)
  • a learning workshop to share a set of tools or resources
  • a design workshop to design a set of tools or resources
  • a share and tell session where you invite audience members to share their experiences related to your topic as well
  • or something else entirely
(V) Session timing: We have 60-min blocks reserved; your session idea can be as short as 15-min or maybe occupies the whole 60-min block. We will work with you to make it fit!
