Proposed Changes to the Admissions Policy for Gillotts School from 1 September 2022
Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) consulted and made changes on their Admissions Policy from 1 September 2021.  Gillotts School’s intention is to follow the published LA admission arrangements for Years 7 to 11 at community and voluntary controlled secondary schools.  However the timing of OCC’s consultation meant that this is the first opportunity for us to make the same changes as detailed below:

1. Deletion of Rule 3 (children with a disability).
Disabled children who need to be admitted to a school on the grounds of physical accessibility would be likely to have an Education, Health & Care (EHC) Plan, which gives priority for admission in any case.
2. Measure using straight line distance (- determination whether to offer free travel to school still calculated using routed distance)
We will be able to achieve greater consistency by measuring in this way.
3. In (new) oversubscription criteria 3 to 10, priority given to children eligible for service pupil premium.
This change is consistent with OCC’s policy but is unlikely to have any significant impact at Gillotts.

The consultation opens on Thursday 1 October 2020 and closes on Thursday 12 November 2020. The Admissions Policy for September 2022 will be determined at the meeting of the full Governing Body on 1 December 2020 and will be published on the school website.
