This summer, dive into what it means to be a United Methodist! Learn about the history of Methodism, how John Wesley understood grace, piety, and mercy, and how the Quadrilateral and Cornerstones can fortify your faith practices. This six-week class, offered on Wednesdays from 6:00– 7:30 pm, is geared for middle-school students through adults. Some sessions will be taught as a large group, and others will be split by age. Confirmation or church membership is not required to come and learn more about John Wesley’s Methodist tradition. Session topics are interrelated, but not sequential; attendance at all sessions is not required. Class dates and topics are scheduled as follows.
- July 9—Overview of the Basics: Wesley’s Quadrilateral, Cornerstones, and Three General Rules.
- July 16— History & Grace (youth*); Our Heritage: John & Charles Wesley, Timelines, and Standards (adult*)
- July 30— A Closer Look at the Quadrilateral (youth); Grace: Wesley’s Way (adult)
- August 6—Sacraments: Holy Communion & Baptism
- August 13—Works and Cornerstones: Compassion & Devotion
- August 20—Works and Cornerstones: Worship & Justice
*Youth (students entering into 6th-8th grade), Adult (students entering into 9th grade - adults)
