Since the government made that commitment last year, only 8,580 Afghan refugees have made it to Canada.
At the end of 2021, 55,937 people were waiting for their refugee claims to be determined in Canada, 90+% of which are from the majority world countries.
As of November 2022, 117,000 Ukrainians have come to Canada through the CUAT program though 420,000 applications have been approved so far. 700,000 Ukrainians have applied to come to Canada.
