The Certified Recovery Specialist(CRS) and the Certified Family Recovery Specialist (CFRS) Credentials are certified by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB). The Council is a PCB-approved provider of this combined training, offering the new 78 hour standardized curriculum required to apply for the CRS and CFRS credentials. This training consists of 66 hours in-person hours, and 12 hours of online quizzes and other homework.

To be qualified for this CRS training, the candidate must have a High School Diploma/ GED or higher and a minimum of 18 months continuous lived substance use disorder recovery experience prior to enrolling in the training.

To be qualified for this CFRS training the candidate must have a High School Diploma/ GED or higher, and be able to self-identify as a person who has experienced their own journey of recovery after having been directly impacted by a family member or loved one's substance use disorder and their subsequent experience navigating multiple systems prior to registering for the training.

Please note that The Council is NOT the certifying board, but will provide participants with certificates for the completion of the curriculum that the participant then submits with their credentialing application to the PCB. (NOT included in the tuition fee is the $150 application fee that will need to be paid to the PA Certification Board after training is completed in order to apply for either certification.)
