LINCOLN MIDDLE SCHOOL
 
          In the 2020 – 2021 school year we will be offering 6th graders an opportunity to take either Beginning Band, String Orchestra, or the Wheel rotation.   Both music classes are FULL year courses. Wheel is on a six week rotation.  There are 6 six week courses that are completed.
 
The Beginning Band Class will provide an opportunity for students to develop basic music skills on one of the following BAND INSTRUMENTS:
 
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, Percussion and Bells
 
The String Orchestra Class will provide an opportunity for students to develop basic music skills on one of the following STRING INSTRUMENTS:
 
Violin, Viola, Cello and String Bass    
 
            Students DO NOT have to know what instrument they are going to play to sign up for band and strings classes.    During the first 3 weeks of school, instrument testing and try out will be done on all instruments in each Beginning Music Class to determine which instrument is best and easiest for each student to play.   Then students will be assigned an instrument to play according to which one is best and most suitable for them to play.

**Lincoln Middle School has a limited number of school instruments.  We try to find students an instrument to play when they are of need of an instrument to participate.
 
The current Wheel rotation offers six weeks in each of these courses: Spanish, Mandarin, French, Art, Engineering, and Music Appreciation.  You do not select where you start.  The courses are assigned at random times, however, the students in the course stay together as a cohort for the entirety of the school year.
