Transformation Through Movement: An Introduction to the Feldenkrais Method.
with Joshua Elbaum
CLASSES:
Monday, November 22nd at 6:30-7:30pm EST
Monday, December 20th at 6:30-7:30pm EST
DESCRIPTION:
What makes your own movement pleasing to you? In this introductory workshop, we will explore improving movement to the standard of internal, rather than external, aesthetics. Through functional movement sequences derived from biomechanics and human development, we will create a laboratory in which we begin encountering our habits of movement, thought, and feeling and find space to choose alternatives.
The Feldenkrais method is a somatic approach to movement education, where curiosity, pleasure, and ease guide self-discovery. It can be helpful in relieving chronic tension, pain, and anxiety, along with improving neurological function in people of diverse abilities. Class will be verbally guided with minimal need to engage visually with the screen. All bodies are welcome.
