Volunteer to Sponsor an Afghan!
Afghans need your help! Utah Muslim Civic League has helped over 50 Afghans living in Utah fill out humanitarian parole applications for their friends and family who are still in Afghanistan and in danger of Taliban persecution. Humanitarian paroles help bring at-risk Afghans who are still in Afghanistan to the United States, and for many of them this is their last lifeline.

We have a huge need for sponsors to get these at-risk Afghans into the U.S.! Please review the following information about being a sponsor:

- As a sponsor, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient income (100% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines) to support a humanitarian parole applicant if it becomes necessary after they enter the United States

- You will need to demonstrate that you have sufficient income by providing one of the following: the most recent IRS 1040 form, a W-2 or 1099 form, a verification of employment letter, recent pay statements, or a bank statement covering the past 3 months

- There is no specific requirement for the kind of support you have to provide, it is, in effect, a moral obligation

- The Affidavit of Support form it is not legally binding

- Organizations can serve as sponsors, such as legal service providers, churches and nonprofit organizations

- Sponsors do not have to pay any money upfront

- Sponsors do not have to be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents

If you are interested in sponsoring an Afghan we will get you paired up with an Afghan in need and will contact you later about the required documents and information. Thank you for your help!
