As a KHS Year Level Captain or KHS Values Captain, some of your responsibilities and things you will be involved in are;
- Meet weekly and be an active member of the Student Leadership Team – be inspired and develop leadership skills within the school community!
- Represent your year level and provide Student Voice/Action on all aspects of our school community.
- Help provide opportunities to acknowledge & celebrate student achievement at our school.
- Address your year level assemblies on issues/plans for the school.
- Assist in the running of whole school assemblies.
- Help organise and be a presence at whole school functions/ events – e.g. Swimming and Athletics Carnivals.
- helping coordinate and run student led events in our school and actively be involved in promotion of all things to do with the SLT and KHS in general.
- help manage the Student Leadership Lounge.
- At all times behave in a way that exemplifies your role and values of our school. Show leadership to all members of our school community.
A School Values Captain is a role that encompasses all of the above. However this a special role open to all students from Years 7-12 who have a passion for and would like to help be at the forefront of elevating their chosen value in our school community.

The
Diversity Captain serves as the vibrant heart and guiding force of our
Diversity Club. They are not just a leader but a facilitator, responsible for
inspiring our members, and representing our cause both within our school
community and beyond. With a commitment to fostering inclusivity and empowering
their fellow students, the Diversity Captain plays a pivotal role in
championing diversity, equity, and inclusion at Kyneton High School.
Below is an
outline of the skills / capabilities and responsibilities that would be
required if you are selected for the role:
Responsibilities:
- Willingness to lead and facilitate
club meetings and sessions. (training provided)
- Serve as the primary liaison between
the club and school administration.
- Represent the club in school and
community events.
- Work with a team to organise and
oversee club initiatives and projects.
- Collaborate with club members to
develop creative event ideas and plan, coordinate, and execute awareness
campaigns and events (e.g., IDAHOBIT Day, Reconciliation Week, Harmony Day, WIP
Day, Pride Month).
- Advocate for the inclusion and
consideration of queer/trans students and culture in discussions related to
school policies and facilities (e.g., sports facilities, bathrooms, uniforms).
- Communicate with the broader student
body.
- Willingness to collaborate with
school staff and administration on inclusive policies and practices.
- Monitor progress and implementation
of changes.
- Keep a record of club meeting
attendance for all members.
- Distribute and keep track of points
or incentives for attendance.
