IDLC Testing Questionnaire
RESPONSE REQUIRED
Iditarod Area School District participates in a number of state tests.
All testing will take place at IASD sites

AK STAR (3-9)  |  Provided in April
  • AK STAR is designed to help to amplify student learning. Alaska’s innovative assessment system will give educators, students, and families meaningful insights on student strengths and areas of need to support students in reaching their highest academic potential. This assessment provides information on a student’s understanding of the state’s language arts, mathematics, and science standards at their respective grade level.

AK Science (5, 8 & 10)  |  March 24 – April 25, 2025
  • The Alaska Science Assessment is designed to measure a student’s understanding of the skills and concepts outlined in the K-12 Science Standards for Alaska, adopted in 2019. These standards are specific rigorous expectations for growth in students’ skills across all grade levels.

MAP (K-12)  |  Provided Fall/Winter/Spring
  • Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is a formative adaptive assessment. This means the test adapts to individual student responses, offering more or less complex questions at their academic level rather than grade level. Results from MAP are used to determine student strengths and weaknesses in specific academic areas and help guide instruction. MAP is norm-referenced, which means the student score is compared to a national average and gives parents a percentile ranking of student achievement.
  • If your child takes the MAP assessment at a private school (BCS, etc.) you may send us your child's results.
mClass/DIBELS (K-3)  |  Provided Fall/Winter/Spring
  • Early literacy skills as aligned to the requirements of the Alaska Reads Act.
  • The Department of Education & Early Development is responsible for supporting and training pre-kindergarten through third grade teachers, curriculum specialists, and other educators by providing evidence-based instructional strategies on literacy. In June 2022, Governor Mike Dunleavy signed the Alaska Reads Act into law, creating four components to support early literacy
