Please start by opening up to page 2. Read the title aloud and invite your child to tell what's happening in each part of the picture and how each person feels. Then give your child a pencil and read each sentence aloud to them, while having them fill in the missing word.(1-sand, 2-town, 3-hard, 4-sorry, 5-angry) Ask: "What word do the letters in the box spell?" (sorry) "Who said, "I'm sorry?" *
Point out that what was a bad start for Owen got better when Clare said she was sorry and offered to help him rebuild his town. Ask: "When have you needed to say you were sorry?" "How can we say we're sorry to God?" (Pray to God to say we're sorry. Show we are sorry by changing our bad behavior and trying to make right what we have done wrong.) Point out that when we are older, they can tell God they are sorry in the sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation. *
Finally, conclude that it's okay to be angry, but we also need to be ready to forgive as Owen was and as Jesus always is. *
