This spring, we are hosting our third annual AppState Creatives Retreat! We're so glad you are registering for this event sponsored by the App State Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for Student Success (CETLSS). We hope this will be a supportive time for you to get some creative work DONE!
The diverse faculty at Appalachian State is composed of artists, photographers, sculptors, media makers, creators, composers, performers (dancers, vocalists, instrumentalists, and conductors) and academicians (theorists, historians, educators, therapists, and industry professionals). Therefore, the nature of scholarly and creative activity carried out by the faculty is diverse. Further, some faculty members teach in both academic and performance areas and, thus, may have a combination of scholarly and creative activities.
We recognize that scholarly activity, creative activity, and professional development enable faculty to remain current in their areas of specialization. Creative activities are highly regarded because (a) faculty members serve as important role models for students, (b) such activity is of utmost importance in developing a strong recruitment base, and (c) this activity supports the University’s core value of supporting “faculty excellence in teaching and all forms of scholarship.”
