This information session is for those currently or considering home educating their children through the teen years. This evening aims to offer support through the provision of information, encouragement and personal insights. The information shared will be from home educating parents who have navigated this pathway.
Are you curious about NCEA as an option for the secondary years? Perhaps you’d like to know a little more about how it all works? Nathalie Thomas will talk about how homeschoolers can use NCEA as a pathway to tertiary education, such as polytechnic or university.
She will explain how NCEA works, what is meant by credits, achievement standards, unit standards, etc. Nathalie will explain what the minimum number of credits needed is and how to gain these through the correspondence school – Te Kura (which is free once your child turns 16.)
She will share how NCEA achieves the literacy and numeracy requirements as well as university entrance. After Nathalie’s talk, there will be time for questions and answers with Nathalie and other home educators who have experience with NCEA and Te Kura.
This information session is FREE to attend, but registration is required to aid with our planning, thank you.
The session will be held in a North Shore venue with easy access to the motorway: YMCA North Shore (Roberts Room), 5 Akoranga Drive, Northcote. Lots of free parking.
