NWFASA Non-Profit Task Force Team Application
Welcome to the application to join the NWFASA Non-Profit Task Force Team! Thank you for your interest in supporting the alliance and its need to explore options of growth.

---Context---
The Northwest Filipino American Student Alliance is the second oldest collegiate organization nationally, founded in 1994. It has grown from five founding organizations to a total of 27, with 22 active. As the alliance grows, so have the needs of the organization. Generally speaking, non-profit status will help in sustaining this growing organization by providing structure and legitimizing it to allow for collaboration with businesses and other Filipinx-centered organizations. Source funding for events and programming has been handled through personal accounts as well as through individual organizations. This is not sustainable for this organization, but also is risky for the owners of the accounts. The leadership of NWFASA has discussed exploring non-profit status for years. It may allow us to streamline communication and improve the overall structure of the alliance, but research must be done to ensure that it is feasible and suitable for NWFASA.

---Objectives---
~ Research the process of establishing a nonprofit organization in the state of Washington and/or Oregon
~ Collaborate and gather best practices from existing nonprofit organizations with similar mission as NWFASA
~ Evaluate the current mission, leadership, and governance structure of NWFASA
~ Establish a 5-10 year strategic plan

---Deliverables---
~ Spreadsheets and breakdown of costs
~ Comparison report of each state’s processes
~ Suggested structure of a new governing board structure
~ Pros and Cons of becoming a non-profit organization
~ Testimonials and interviews from existing non-profit organizations
~ Report of current challenges in NWFASA, as it stands without non-profit status

---Time Commitment---
This is subject to change depending on the needs of the team, but it is estimated to be 8-10 hours a month.

---Due Date--
This application will have rolling admission. We will continue to accept applications until we reach our desired team of 7 individuals. The priority deadline for this application is January 25, 2020 at 11:59PM.
